I used the Wild & Punny Stamp + Thin Cuts, Decorative Borders & Fancy Tags Thin cuts to create this cute & simple card.

With the fancy Tag I cut out some Sweet Girl green printed paper & cut off the part that has the hole in it. This tag has a nice little stitched detail on it.

The Decorative Borders was done on Raspberry to co-ordinate with the green sweet girl paper.

The cut illama was stamped in Espresso & coloured in with water colour pencils.

I also added one of the adorable black hearts from the Craft On Rubber Shapes – these are seriously cute.

It doesn’t matter if you into the dry embossing or wet embossing techniques, both add texture & a little dimension to your artwork creations.

With my card today I embossed the white cardstock & the little chipboard arrow under the boat.

I love that you can emboss cardstock or chipboard easily.

And well because I had time before this blog went live this morning I quickly made this card. I embossed in gold the Love blossoms & coloured the back in Shin Han Markers & cut the flower out & attached with some glue dots to a white dry embossed cardstock & added a sticker from the So Much Happy Compliments.

Lovely Layers – CTMH Technique Blog Hop

Lovely Layers CTMH Technique Blog HopWelcome to this month’s Technique Blog Hop where we are “Lovely Layers” with Close To My Heart products.

I love adding layers whether it’s through the use of various papers, clusters of embellishments, or stamp images. I love how layers can help create interest my artwork & I had a lot of fun creating this Lovely Layers Love Blossoms Rose Card.

Lovely Layers Love Blossoms Rose Card maz.closetomyheart.com.au #ctmh #ctmhloveblossoms

I layered the red stripe Happy Heart paper over the soft pink striped Something Fierce. It helped that they were different heights & widths to allow you to see the soft pink stripe. I added some So Much Happy washi tape & layered over that with Lagoon diamond pattern from the Celebrate Mix In to go across the card. On top of that I have layered  a love blossoms rose weaved through the shaker window circle die cut. At the top of the card I added a layer ofSo Much Happy washi with mint cardstock decorated with one of the decorated border thin cuts. I finished off with some loose sequins with bitty sparkles in the centre.

I also created this scrapbook layout using mostly the Happy Heart Papers.

I fussy cut the flowers & layered over the papers, added extra banner to layer over the pre-printed banners on the grid paper. I created an embellishment clusters  with the scallop tag, stitched circle layered with a banner & die cut butterflies. I added layers with bits of die cut frames, tags & fussy cut out scallop to go behind the 3×4 photo placements. This is a very girly pink layout, but I loved how it turned out – now I just need to wait for my photos to be printed so I can add them.

I’d love for you to leave a comment before you head on over to Valerie Kapsha to get more Lovely Layers ideas.

Shabby Chic with Close To My Heart Products

Hello to all my crafty friends

Welcome to 2019 & hopefully a fun creative year. To kick start the creativity I thought I would share some ways to create a Shabby Chic look with Close To My Heart products.

The Seasonal Expressions 1 Idea book started a couple of days ago & one of the new product ranges is the Feels Like Home collection, this collection has a shabby chic feel to it already so it makes it super simple to create the look.

For my first card not only did I use Feels Like Home, I also used some of the weathered pink paper from the Something Fierce Paper collection as it too had a nice shabby chic feel.

Combined with some textured paste and the the Budding Peony Stamp + Thin Cuts and a butterfly from the Butterfly Friendship Stamp + Thin Cuts, well I say the whole combination has a nice modern shabby chic feel.

I used one of the White Cards from the White Cards & Envelopes Value Pack then cut my paper to size. Once that was done I used a distress edger, you can use scissors to achieve the same look.

I cut out the Hexagon Grid Overlay from the Cricut® Artbooking Collection onto Stencil Sheets & used Opaque Matte Texture Paste onto the pink Something Fierce Paper using a pallet knife.

While the texture paste was drying I cut out the fringe border that is in the Decorative Borders thin cuts from Charcoal cardstock and stamped both the Budding Peony and the Butterfly onto white daisy cardstock in Charcola ink & coloured in with ShinHan™ Touch Twin™ markers to lighten the colour on the butterfly I used the Colorless Blender Marker which actually removes colour not really blends.

It was all put together with some white ribbon – I think it turned out to be a very pretty shabby chic card.
I hope you enjoyed what I created, as much as I enjoyed creating it and thanks so much for taking the time to check it out.

Shake Things Up! – CTMH Technique Blog Hop

Shake Things Up! - CTMH Technique Blog Hop www.maz.closetomyheart.com.auWelcome to this month’s Technique Blog Hop where we have “Shake Things Up” with Close To My Heart products.

If you have arrived here from Shirley Ross then you are in the right place.

Shakers are a fun interactive element that can be added to any papercrafting project & I love the fact that Close To My Heart now stock Shaker Window Foam & Acetate & a Thin Cuts -Shaker Window & Confetti to allow us to create these shaker elements.

As our new shaker card thin cut is a circle, it was perfect to add in amongst the circles on this scrapbook layout and the Loose Sequins are like smaller circles – repeating the pattern on the layout.Currently In My Life Scrapbook Layout with Close To My Heart Shaker element www.maz.closetomyheart.com.au

For my next idea I decided to turn the shaker into a Snow Globe. I created the stand in Design Space & the snow hills from the Decorative Borders & the little houses are in the Cricut® Season of Joy Digital Collection. I resized the houses to fit inside the snow globe & the Loose Sequins act as the snow falling.

I also created a see through shaker card – these cards do use two acetate sheets but I do love the way you can see through to the inside of the card where you could place a sentiment. I kept this card very simple with just a poinsettia on the Candy Apple circle.

Paste-fully Creative – CTMH Technique Blog Hop

Paste-fully Creative - CTMH Technique Blog Hop www.maz.closetomyheart.com.auWelcome to this month’s Technique Blog Hop where we are  being “Paste-fully Creative” with Close To My Heart products.

Texture Paste is ideal for adding dimensional layers onto a variety of surfaces and Close To My Heart have opaque matte, transparent matte, and transparent gloss texture paste to play with.

Opaque matte dries white or the colour that you colour it with. It is nice & thick & holds it form.

Transparent matte, and transparent gloss are a thinner consistency & both dry clear, which means that when you add colour, the colour is a lot brighter. The only difference is one dries with a glossy finish.

On this card I used the Transparent matte through a stencil created from the Artbooking Cricket Cartridge over watercolour paper. Once it was dry I coloured it with water colour paper & used paper towel to remove some of the colour to allow some of the white background of the watercolour paper to show through.
Texture Paste over watercolour paperThank You Butterfly Card www.maz.closetomyheart.com.auI cut it into a banner to use as a background and created a butterfly to match to make this thank you card.

With this card I added embossing powder to the wet texture paste. Once the texture paste was dry I used the heat gun to emboss the gold powder.

Texture Paste with Gold Embossing Powder Thank You www.maz.closetomyheart.com.auThis made a great background to cut up & use to feature behind the hedgehog. I coloured tit pink to match in the raspberry cardstock & the raspberry polka dot paper from the Oh What Fun Paper Pack.

I hope you all try out texture paste & give it a go. These are just a few ideas & I am sure you find more along this hop. I’d love for you to leave a comment before you head on over to Tamara Sandwisch to get more wonderful ideas using texture paste.

I hope you enjoyed what I created, as much as I enjoyed creating it and thanks so much for taking the time to check it out.
