Other ways to use your Picture My Life cards

Picture My Life™ Beautiful You Scrapbooking ProgramIf you are like me you have a tonne of these cute little Picture My Life™ cards or even some Project Life Cards, that you need to find other ways to use them before they take over your supplies entirely!

So I am sharing with you some of the ways that you can use PML cards in your other papercrafting.

Cardmaking
http://maz.ctmh.com.au/Retail/Products.aspx?CatalogID=19Need a bunch of quick cards to keep on stash? Use the beautifully designed journal cards for the starring role of your card & accent with a range of fun embellishments.

Home Decor
I mean why not some of these cards are just so pretty that they need to be used to decorate the home. You could create bunting, add a card to the Designed Décor Black Shadow Box that you want to frame – yes some of them are just pretty enough to frame!

Everyday Life™ Planner

Everyday Life™ CTMH PlannerThere are so many ways you can incorporate the PML journaling cards into your planner – as they do have journalling space they are great for writing good memories.
Gift Tags
The PML cards can make some sweet gift tags to jazz up your next gift be it for Birthday’s, Christmas or just because.

A Binder Ring Flipbook
Try creating this flipbook by hole punching the cards and sliding them onto a binder ring. In addition to using the cards for base pages, you can also use the 4″ x 3″ cards for matting photos, journaling, and creating tabs.

To-Do Lists
I am forever writing to do lists – I started to write on the PML card & then tucked them away in a sleeve pocket in my planner so I can see what I need to do that week/day/hour! You could event make Dry-Erase To Do List Frame by framing it under some glass use a dry-erase marker to add love notes, reminders.

Shopping Lists
One thing I love about this idea is that I keep the shopping list to add to a scrapbook layout/My Crush (smash) page for later as a great way to know my shopping habits & even look back years on the way prices of items have changed.

Traditional Scrapbook Page
If you are already doing Pocket style with your PML cards, why not mix it up & incorporate a traditional Scrapbook layout that features the PML cards – it will tie the two together & make the look cohesive in your album.

Gratitude Journal
If you like to take time to be grateful and discover a new sense of fulfillment and wellbeing with a Gratitude Journal, you’ll love to incorporate some of the PML cards as there usually a bunch of great quotes that can be a jumping of point for a Gratitude Journal

Mini Albums
CTMH PML chalk it up mini albumJoin up a bunch of PML card together & add some washi tape to the spine or punch some holes in the edge & add some ribbon & you have got yourself a mini album

I’m NEW to decorating Planners…

Ok I am VERY NEW to the whole decorating planners and Close to My Heart released this gorgeous new line called Everyday Life™ and part of this new line is this sweet black album & planner pages. So I jumped on board & got myself a Planner Bundle (sorry 😦 but the planner bundle price is now over) and then when it arrived I kind of stared at it!

Anyway it was a little overwhelming to start on a blank canvas on something you have not done before, but hey – it still involves all stamping, cardmaking, scrapbooking & papercraft supplies so that is a bonus!

It means I don’t have to go & buy new things just for my planner, although I most likely will, but at least I can use that product for my other papercrafting & all my stuff can used in the same way but just on a planner!

Being New to this I know I will go Crazy & Experiment to work out what works best for me. One of the best things I read when researching what people do in their planners is

It’s your planner, so you should do whatever makes you happy because that will make you use your planner and motivate yourself to stay organised.

So not so sure about the whole organised part – I like to think I am organised but really I’m not.

But I love the whole makes me happy part.

Anyway I have got my list of must have’s ready for my new planner. I am not saying that these are all MUST haves – there are a tonne of blog post that list must have items, these are a few things that I am going to be using as a NEW planner decorator.

  • A pen: To add in all the important dates. A lot of people say that different colour pens are a must have, but for now I am sticking to one the Marvy® Uchida® LePen™ Journaling Pen and I will use other ways to add colour. It also means I can add some doodling to get back into drawing & add my own personal touch.
  • Some inspiring quotes and words: There are so many quotes & words to choose from & I want to make my planner not only incredibly happy but super positive. I love getting a little punch of inspiration. I plan on adding these between pages using Picture My life cards or with stamped images on the pages.
  • Stickers: I am going to be using the CTMH Fundamental Stickers there are great little tabs, words & other bits & pieces & this is where some of my colour will be added.
  • Washi Tape: Boy I love this stuff. I have all my files at  work decorated with it & I even added it to my stapler, scissors & sticky tape dispenser at work – this way co-workers know it is mine when they borrow the item! CTMH have some new washi tapes which I know I will incorporate into my planner.
  • Stamps: Well I have a tonne of My Acrylix® Stamp Sets just itching to get some ink on them & get some love in my new planner. Plus there are some cute stamps made just for the planner (see I told you I would most likely buy a product that is just for the planner!) like the Everyday Life™ Perfect Plan Roller Stamp or even the stamp that was developed for the Instalife™ range the Instalife™ Roller Stamp This Happened they are both just too perfect not to include on my list of supplies
  • Photos: Ok I don’t have these yet as I still need to take photos during 2016, but I like photos and I like to print them out. I kind of want my planner to be like a smash book which is great because CTHM have the My Crush® Everyday Life Pages which is perfect for smash book pages & they also have Pocket type Memory Protectors that fit perfectly in the CTMH Album. So I can easily add photos there.

I know as I play with my new planner I will add & take things away, depending on how they work for me & if they make me happy & if I can keep up with it.

I hope you will share with me your experiences with planners whether your new to it like me or have been decorating planners for a long time & remember to join the Live your Day Gathering to be in the draw to win the January Mystery Hostess & for a chance to get a FREE roll of gold foil tape.

Mystery Hostess - oin the Live Your Day Gathering, make an order $30 or more & you will get a FREE Roll of Foil tape, sent separately, PLUS you go into the draw of wining the Mystery Hostess. You could win FREE product & possibly up to 50% off product. Names will be drawn Jan 30, 2016 - Good Luck

Also make sure you take the time to round up your order & donate some money to Operation Smile™, an organization that provides free, life-changing surgery that repairs smiles and reshapes lives, one child at a time.

Thanks so much for taking the time to read the ramblings of a new planner decorator…see you soon.

Gratitude Journal 2015 – Day 1

Ok after some earlier inspiration from theeverydayscrapbooker I have decided to take the Gratitude Journal challenge – eek!

Hopefully the motivation I have today will continue for the rest of the year.

Deciding what I would journal on was next on the agenda.

It needs to be portable – or some part of it can be so that I can record my Gratitude on the go – I am on a train about 4hours of my life  5 days a week – so there is my time to record.

The next issue is when to find time to decorate – it has to be creative, decorated & include the things I love. Sure it could be a note book but I would lose interest in that quick. And making things pretty with paper is just my thing!

My Options are:

In the end I have decided to go with Picture My Life Cards – because it is a simple surface that is mostly decorated so part of the work is done. They are an easy surface to create on, play on, and try things without worrying about making a masterpiece.

I can concentrate on the process and embracing imperfection & taking time for myself to do something creative.

They are easy to take with me & decorate on the train, even if it is with just a journaling pen, as most of the decoration has already been done.

Eek I am excited about this. It took me most of yesterday – first day of the year to decide what to do, that I am only posting Day 1 now.

Day 1

Hopefully once I hit publish that it is out in the world – I will keep this up. Stay Tuned for Day 2 later today.
