For this National Scrapbooking Month Close To My Heart created this gorgeous Hope & Kindness collection. So I scrapbooked with this collection – yes I know I normally makes cards, I did makes some with this collection as well as it was too pretty not too, but I am sharing some scrapbooking today! I hope you enjoy what I created with it as I had a lot of fun using it.

For this first layout, I used a bunch of the patterns papers & cardstock to form triangles to draw attention to the photo, which I will add once printed.

I stamped the Brush Strokes stamp set in Mink Exclusive Inks™ Stamp Pad so that it appears to be peeking out from under the triangles. I used the Embroidered Borders in Charcoal Exclusive Inks™ Stamp Pad to make it look like I added stitching. I fussy cut some to the flowers & tucked them in between the layers of the triangles. I cut out First Mother’s Day using the Cricut & stamped Enjoy this moment & Oh Happy Day from the In Full Bloom—Cardmaking stamp set.

The next layout I mixed the Hope & Kindness collection with the As You Grow Paper Collection to create this Welcome Home Baby Scrapbook layout.

The scrapbook based is one of the Hope & Kindness Coordinating Cardstock, it looks like kraft cardstock that has been painted with white paint or gesso. I thought it was perfect to draw attention to the middle of the layout. I used sticker strips & cut up pattern paper strips of the pattern paper up the top & bottom and to layer under the main photo area. I stamped the Embroidered Borders amongst the paper & stickers. I cut out Sweet with the Cricut & another Sweet was stamped. The photo placement has vellum under it so you can see some of the paper & sticker strips.

I enjoyed creating both of these scrapbook layouts, I hope you liked these ideas & will get some inspiration.

For my card I used the In Full Bloom Digital Art Collection.

These are the cardstock techniques I used creating this card

  • I embossed some cardstokc & sanded it back with sandpaper.
  • I did tone on tone stamping on the avocado cardstock strip with avocado ink
  • I added tri-belnd markers to my flowers & leaves to create more depth & texture
  • I added white gel pen to the butterfly.

Hope you try this out on your cardstock.

So I think my favourite pattern in this collection is the random abstract flowers print. So I had to use that one first.

So I choose a pattern that allow you to see mot of that pattern & added a zip strip & the Mint pattern paper. I used one of my inner inverted scallop circle from the Circle Windows Slimline Thin Cuts – you get three of these each time you use this die so why not use them! I stamped one of the Meowgical Caticorns & coloured in with the TriBlend™ Markers that matched the colours in the pattern paper

For my next idea I really wanted to use the banner pattern paper. So of course I turned it into a birthday card.

I stamped the Happy Cake Day in a variety of coloured inks & stamped Happy Cake Day over it. This was cut our using the Circle Shaker Window Thin Cuts. I cut out a banner from the Harbour pattern paper to tie with Harbour mat.

Both cards were fun to create & I used some nice simple designs that really do show off the pattern paper. I hope you enjoyed what I created.

Close To My Heart: Sweet Little Things-January Stamp of the Month Australasian Blog Hop

The Sweet Little Things -January Stamp of the Month is just adorable.

On my first card I wanted to try out the no line water colouring technique. I used ink pads smooshed onto the craft mat with some water as my watercolour paint and a small paint brush.

The image was stamped onto the smooth side of the Distress Watercolor Cardstock in Linen Ink so you could just see the lines under light. I then started to paint with water colour using Vintage Photo Distress Oxide & Mocha Exclusive inks for my browns. I even mixed these two inks for some of the water colour shades. It gave the image a Children’s Book Illustration look. I want to try this technique again but with the Tri-Blend Markers & see how I go. I finished off the card with some of the new Sawyer pattern Paper & a strip of white stamped with the Embroidered Borders & some Mocha cardstock.

On my next card I used a stencil for my honeycomb background. But instead of having that stark white showing through I blended some lighter Distress Oxide ontop of it.

Iused Spiced Marmalade & Mustard Seed Distressed Oxide Ink for the background. I stamped the Bear over the background as so I could get the bee onto the scene & any other part of the image I might miss when fussy cutting out the Bear. The Bear was coloured in with Tri-Blend Makers & stuck on top. I matted the cardstock onto some Sawyer pattern Paper as it looked perfect with the bright yellow/orange background.

Close To My Heart: Wildflower Friendship – October Stamp of the Month Australasian Blog Hop

These gorgeous critters covered in flowers will have you swooning and to top it off they have some great sentiments too.

For this card I decided to use the fox.

I created this scallop oval using my Cricut from the Close To My Heart – Art Philosophy Image set. I stamped it with Mocha ink onto French Vanilla cardstock & only coloured the flowers in with TriBlend™ Markers. I then added Rose Gold Liquid Pearls to the inner parts of the scallops & set this aside to dry while I worked out my card base.

I have the cross over fold card template in my stash & I haven’t used it in a while & thought it was perfect for this large image. Once I made it I wanted to put some detail in the background so I used the Embroidered Card Front Image, stamped in Mocha ink on Mocha cardstock – it gives it a nice tone on tone look. I did have to stamp this image a couple of times to fill in the space & I knew that the center would be covered with my oval.

To finish it off I cut some flowers & leaves with the Layered Flowers Thin Cuts & added more Rose Gold Liquid Pearls to the flower centres. These also served to hide a section of the background that I accidentally overlapped the background image.

All in All this makes for one extra special card.

My next card I decided to do the Eclipse Technique with one of the Word Thin Cut Dies.

I started with cutting the cardstock with the large rectangle thin cut, then stamped & coloured in the hedgehog along with one of the sentiments. Then on the back of the cardstock I added a piece of adhesive sheet & then came the scary part, running this lovely coloured image through the Die Cutting machine with the Just Because word – seriously did not want to start over with all the colouring again.

I also cut the word out in black cardstock a few times & then stacked them with the coloured word on top & stuck it back into place. The adhesive cardstock made the whole process much easier as everything was covered & ready to stick into place.

Close To My Heart: Winged Masterpiece – March Stamp of the Month Australasian Blog Hop

There are some great images as well as sentiments on this stamp set, I could see it being used for many things

I love the floral designs for the butterfly & dragonfly, but I thought to myself do I really want to colour all that in. SO with that in mind & I figured others would think the same thing I decided to do the reverse colour technique – that is only colour the background & leave the actual stamped images uncoloured.

Winged Masterpiece—March Stamp of the Month

I stamped the butterfly in black ink three times on a 3½” × 8½” cardfront panel to fit the slimline cards Close To My Heart have. I chose a blue marker & started to colour in the background. I did add some Pewter Precious Metals Metallic Marker to the body of the butterfly to give the black a bit of metallic shimmer but I left the wings uncoloured.

I stamped one of the sayings onto some scrap & raised it up over the card.

It was a simple & fast card to create & still looked effective.
