May is National Scrapbooking Month and to help you celebrate the beauty of your life, Close To My Heart brings you this limited-time Live Beautifully collection. From this collection you can choose to get the Live Beautifully: Cut Above® Layout Kit, Live Beautifully Paper Packet, Live Beautifully Stamp Set or get a discount on one of the Live Beautifully Album Bundles, only available until May 31st.

Now it maybe National Scrapbooking Month, but that doesn’t mean that you have to Scrapbook with these items! I  mean I have but you can also make  cards with the Live Beautifully Stamp Set & or with the Paper Packet and for this hop I wanted to show a few ideas of a scrapbook layout & some cards.

First up is this Smile Scrapbook Layout. I wanted to show how the papers could lean more to a male than using the Flowers.

Smile Scrapbook Layout Live Beautifully collection www.maz.closetomyheart.com.au

The Live Beautifully Paper Packet has some black & white stripes & geometric greys as well as a blue watercolour look designs that work nicely for a male layout. I stamped & embossed the word Smile for the title. And once I decide the photos I will most likely add some Flip Flaps for more photos on this layout.

And now for the cards I wanted to show how the paper looks with the Live Beautifully Stamp Set & a design without.

Rose Card - Live Beautifully collection www.maz.closetomyheart.com.au

The Rose card was stamped with the Live Beautifully Stamp Set in Blossom Ink & then I water coloured over with the watercolour paints, completely covering the stamp image. This gave the rose a water coloured look. I liked the rose on the rose designed paper but I needed to tone it down so that the stamped flower wasn’t lost. So I swiped White Daisy Ink over the paper to give it a distressed shabby chic look.

Here are some close ups of the painted Rose. You can also see the difference in the paper once the White Daisy Ink has gone over it.

The next Card is this cute Panda Card

Close To My Heart Dreamin’ Big Paper Suite: Australasian Blog Hop

Australasian Blog HopA Happy Hello and welcome aboard our Dreamin’ Big Paper Suite Australasian, Close to My Heart Blog Hop.

If you have arrived here from the amazingly creative Creating with Kara Davies then you are in the right place.

If you landed here by accident, no problem, please join in by following the link at the end of this post.

Today I am sharing with you a scrapbook layout that I created with the Dreamin’ Big Paper Suite which is a fun paper suite to play with as it has a great mix of bugs & insects as well as flowers so works great for all types of projects.

I stumbled upon these old photos that are poorly focused, badly lit old film process photos, but do bring back some happy memories so they needed to be scrapped, there were only two photos that were ok to focus on – the rest will be added to Pocket Plus™ Memory Protectors™ when they arrive. But I loved how this paper pack worked with these poor fishing photos.

The layout is inspire by Jan from Intense Magic Creates (who I discovered on Instagram) where there is loads of inspiration including a layout that kickstarted my little version. Make sure you check Jan’s work out when you get a chance.

Hello Happy, Hello Sun shine and Good Times Double Page Scrapbook layout using Close To My Heart Dreamin' Big Paper Packet. www.maz.closetomyheart.com.au

Some of the details

I created some visual interest by creating triangles out of the Dreamin’ Big Paper  and surround the photos to make them the journalling and a title as part of the main focus of the page. I liked how each page woks well by it self but flows nicely when placed together.

I hope you enjoyed what I created today & if you did so, please leave a comment before you head over to the very talented: Megan Lawrence : Crop Craft Create who I am sure will showcase something absolutely wonderful with the Dreamin’ Big Paper Suite

Enjoy the hop & thanks so much for taking the time to check out these ideas with this month’s feature on the Close To My Dreamin’ Big Paper Suite…see you soon & keep creating!

Fun Friday Technique: Watercolour With Your Ink Pad

Did you know that you can use the Exclusive Inks™ Stamp Pad to watercolour?

It is super simple & you can use a bunch of different water colouring techniques such as a wash or watercolour ink splatter.

What is great about this technique is you do not need much & it is super simple & easy.

What you need
– You choice of colour Exclusive Inks™ Stamp Pad
– Your choice of size of the waterbush Small Round, Medium Round or Medium Flat. It depends on the look you are after. Play with each one to see what you like.

Technique Process
– Squeeze the Exclusive Inks™ Stamp Pad together so that the lid touches the ink.
– Open the Stamp Ink Pad & using the waterbush pick up some of the ink from the Lid
– You can now use it to create a wash like I did over the cute Partridge or splatter it like I have on the corner of my Scrapbook Page.
– Wipe/brush or paint off any excess colour on your brush if you are finished or want to change colours. This way no chance of mudding your colours. Plus you get an interesting background to use later.

Bonus Tip
– Try this using the Clear Shimmer Brush instead of the waterbrush to get a little shimmer added to your water colour. You will love the look.

For the Scrapbook Layout I used the splatter technique in the top corner – super easy to tap the water brush to get the splatters
Watercolour With Your Ink Pad - once the colour is loaded to your brush you can tap off to get a paint splatter www.maz.closetomyheart.com.au

Below is a close up of the splatters on the scrapbook layout & me very quickly (and not neatly at all) doing a quick water wash with two different coloured inks on this very cute stamp which will be available in April – unless you join up as a consultant this month – then you get it now for FREE! I did use the shimmer brush but the shimmer doesn’t photo very well.

Close To My Heart posted a quick video on their Instagram which shows the technique in full. Just click on the image & it will play for you a super quick video.

How often do you use this inking technique?

Close To My Heart Hello Lovely Paper Suite: Australasian Blog Hop

Australasian Blog HopA Happy Hello and welcome aboard our Hello Lovely Paper Suite Australasian, Close to My Heart Blog Hop.

If you have arrived here from the amazingly creative Nell Ward then you are in the right place.

This Close To My Heart Paper Suite lives up to it’s name of Hello Lovely, because boy, is it lovely! And I really enjoyed crafting with this Lovely paper and creating lovely creations. Hello Lovely Paper Suite www.maz.closetomyheart.com.au

Though I must say I was worried that I would not have anything new to share with you for this paper suite as I have made & shared quite a bit already since Oct last year when I first got introduced to this Paper Suite at out Close To My Heart Australasian Convention.

I decided to use one of the cut apart Picture My Life Cards that come in the paper range. One of them is a frame which would normally be used for your journalling or for your title in your pocket Scrapbooking, but I thought it made a perfect feature for a card.

Hello Lovely Birthday Card www.maz.closetomyheart.com.au

I cut out the middle of the Picture My Life Card and used it as a frame on my card and decorated around the frame with the Hello Lovely flower compliments. Inside the frame is the birthday saying: One in a Million,. The stamp is actually designed to be used on the inside of your card but that doesn’t mean you cannot use it on the outside!

I choose one of the printed papers from the Hello Lovely Paper Suite, that was similar in colours as the frame to be the background of the card & to tie the design all together. What I really liked was how all the blue/greens of Sea Glass, are the main colour focus instead of the Sorbet colours that I have been using mostly when I have created with this paper.

I hope you enjoyed what I created today & if you did so, please leave a comment before you head over to the very talented: Tanya Armitage: Happy Paper Crafting who I am sure will showcase something absolutely wonderful with the Hello Lovely Paper Range!

Enjoy the hop & thanks so much for taking the time to check out these ideas with this month’s feature on the Close To My Heart’s Hello Lovely Paper Range…see you soon & keep creating!

There is a whole bunch of new Close To My Heart products that are getting introduced this month & they are all so nice but right now the focus in on the Close To My Heart Sugar Rush Paper Suite and it looks super Yummy & sweet & I have had a lot of fun crafting with this paper suite.Sugar Rush Paper Suite www.maz.closetomyheart.com.auAnd today I am sharing a Scrapbook Layout – Yes I know I rarely share a Layout but I did for this hop & really enjoyed the process & I hope you enjoyed what I created.
Hello Love Today Scrapbook Layout with Sugar Rush Paper Pack and Memo Fundamentals and Some Kinda Wonderful Complements. www.maz.closetomyheart.com.au

I mixed up the Sugar Rush Paper Pack with some paper the from Memo Fundamentals and used the Some Kinda Wonderful Complements to go with it instead. The black glitter words & embellishments in the Some Kinda Wonderful Complements can go with any paper pack & I just love how you can mix & match different lines from the Close To My Heart product range and that they work together. Check out some of the closer details.

I used the blue checked paper as a frame – to save paper I cut out the middle and replaced with the checked paper from the Memo Fundamentals . I cut out some red circles  and added Sugar Rush dots from one of the other papers to use as embellishments

I added a Sugar Rush Dot to the arrow from the Some Kinda Wonderful Complement & stamped hello (the only stamped item) from the Some Kinda Wonderful cardmaking kit.

I also edged the photo mats with Slate Exclusive ink to tie everything in and the Sugar Rush Washi tape is a perfect accent to the bottom of the page. Now all I need to do is get some photos onto it & I can officially say that I Scrapbooked!

I hope you enjoyed what I have created & shared with you today and I’d love for you to leave a comment about what I have created with the Close To My Heart Sugar Rush Paper Suite, before heading off to the next stop.

Now head over to the very talented: Nell Ward Nelliebligh who I am sure will showcase something absolutely wonderful with the Sugar Rush Paper Range!
