FINDING THE BEAUTY IN THE SMUDGES

Close To My Heart Life’s a Hoot – Australasian Blog Hop

A Happy Hello and welcome aboard our Life’s A Hoot Australasian Close to My Heart Blog Hop.

If you have arrived here from Alison Dunn – Scissors Paper Heart then you are in the right place. If you landed here by accident, no problem, please join in by following the link at the end of this post.

My eyes went directly to the circle elements, both on one of the paper designs in this collection & within the Life’s a Hoot—Cardmaking Stamp Set. A few years back we had an Album Retreat in Australia & one of the layouts we created had a Circle in the middle & a “wreath” of circles around it & I thought I would scraplift that layout using this collection.

I focused more on the blue tones of the collection than the purple tones, as this is going into a little boy’s album, he is too young to have a favourite colour yet, but this does show how you can focus on some of the other colours in a collection to change the feel of it.

I first gutted my Sapphire cardstock, as I wanted to create some embellishments out of the colour & this just saved cardstock. I added the lighter side of Glacier over that & used my circut to cut out a circle in the middle of white daisy which I made slightly smaller than the Glacier, so there was a border of that.

I die cut out a bunch of circles in different sizes from the various patterns of the Life’s a Hoot paper collection, and worked out what sizes I needed for some of the stamps in the Life’s a Hoot—Cardmaking Stamp Set. I stamped a bunch in Glacier, Lagoon, Sapphire, Wisteria & worked out later which ones I would use with the papers.

I created a shaker & used Blue Belle Loose Sequins which worked nicely with the colours I was using in the layout even though I have no Blue Belle in the papers or cardstock. Originally this was going to be in Sapphire, but I changed my mind as I did not want the shaker to draw the eye, so used the lighter side of Glacier.

I stamped the crosses from the Background Elements Stamp Set in Pewter Exclusive Inks™ & used an older retired Love Thin cut die. I added some pennant banners, one I stamped with the Life’s a Hoot—Cardmaking Stamp Set to add colour & texture.

I used the paint swish from Background Elements Stamp Set in Glacier Exclusive Inks™ & added my title that I cut out from Cricut & used an older stamp set around the title to fill it in.

I am thinking that I will add a smaller photo of a QR code that has a photo of the one month old linking to a video of a private Facebook Post – I just need to print out first, I am so bad as sometimes I don’t know what I will make to know what size I want first. I often create based on a photo & then work out what size photo I should make the design – it is just how I work.

I would love for you to leave a comment before heading off to the next stop, Lynda Mowat If you have any questions on how I did anything, please ask.

If you do not have a consultant please contact me or place an order here

Enjoy the hop & thanks so much for taking the time to check out these ideas with this month’s feature.

Til next time, see you soon & keep creating
