Make Waves Paper Suite www.maz.maz.closetomyheart.com.auThis bright playful Make Waves Paper Suite is a fun paper pack to play & create with. While the paper pack lends itself to under the sea type theme – the colours in the pack are great for any theme.

Today I am sharing two birthday cards that use the colours within the paper. First one is this cute 18th Birthday card & the next is a flower themed card. Two cards with very different looks using the same papers.

The 18 was cut using the Number Thin Cuts – I did a partial die cut so that I could create balloons.  And used the dog from the Operation Smile™: Punny Pals stamp set- he actually floats a bit when you move the card. The fun papers & the Make Waves Gems are perfect for a Birthday card.

The second card I used the Chelsea Gardens -Scrapbooking stamp set & stamped with the same colours featured in the Make Waves Paper. I used watercolour pencils to create some depth in the stamped flowers. Flower Card with Chelsea Gardens -Scrapbooking stamp set and Make Waves paper suite. www.maz.closetomyheart.com.au

CTMH Stamp of the Month: Sunny Thoughts (S1802) Australasian Blog Hop

Australasian Blog HopA Happy Hello and welcome aboard our Stamp of the Month Australasian Close to My Heart Blog Hop.

If you have arrived here from the amazingly creative, Shaunna Richards Passionate About Pages then you are in the right place.

If you landed here by accident, no problem, please join in by following the link at the end of this post.

This month’s stamp of the month  Sunny Thoughts is a great stamp set to have for Birthday’s or Just sending a special note to someone. Full of flowers & sayings this Stamp Of The Month set is very versatile.

Sunny Thoughts -February Stamp of the Month www.maz.closetomyheart.com.au

You can get this stamp set for $27 or for just $7.50 when you spend $75 or more on Close to My Heart Product. And seeing that February is a short month – you do not have as many days to get this one – so don’t delay & miss out.

This month I made a few different cards as I had a nice long weekend to sit down with this stamp set & play so that I could showcase how versatile this set is.

First Up is a simple card where the Chelsea Gardens paper is the hero of the story. I added the border stamp (which I love from the Sunny Thoughts Stamp set) on either side of the paper feature & double stamped in Glacier (I wanted the blue a darker shade) & fussy cut these out & glued over the flowers stamped in sweet leaf. I added a party banner for the flowers to adorn. All up it made for a very pretty card.
Its Your Day with SOTM Sunny Thoughts & Chelsea Gardens Paper. www.maz.closetomyheart.com.au

The next card is a Tri Fold Card Close with partial Die Cut as the closure. I played around with this card idea months ago but only decorated the card recently. The hardest part was what should I colour the butterfly with as I didn’t want to cut another one to place on top. In the end I went with watercolour pencils with no water. I might go over with a shimmer brush later. But I love how the Thank you card turned out.

This card is a modified design based on Make It from Your Heart™ Volume 4 patten 12. I was playing with mixing papers and before I knew it this card came about & was perfect to use the Birthday sentiment in the Sunny Thoughts stamp of the month set. Again I did some fussy cutting with the flowers to get the different colours for the flower petals & the leaves.
Wishing you Warm Wishes with SOTM Sunny Thoughts card design based on Make It from Your Heart™ Volume 4 patten 12. www.maz.closetomyheart.com.au

If you liked to play with Sunny Thoughts – February Stamp of the Month, all you need to do is add it to your cart at full retail price of $27 OR, with your qualifying order of $75, add it at checkout for the promotional price of $7.50. You only have until Feb 28th, to own it.

I’d love for you to leave a comment before you head on over to the very talented Denise Tarlinton Scrap Stamp Share to get more wonderful ideas on how to use this stamp set.

I hope you enjoyed what I created, as much as I enjoyed creating it and thanks so much for taking the time to check out these ideas with this month’s Stamp of the Month.

See you soon

Tutorial: Joyfold Card from a pre-scored card

Modify the white cards from the White Cards & Envelopes Value Pack into a Fancy or Different Fold

I know some people may find the pre-scored cards that come in the White Cards & Envelopes Value Pack a little restricting & may only think you can create a standard fold with the card – I get it there is a score line smack bang in the middle of the card how can you create a fancy fold with that?

Do not let this scored line get in your way of creating fancy or different folds – in fact use that score line to your advantage to create these fancy folds. Plus the advantage is that you will ALWAYS have envelopes that will fit your cards. I know I have created many of a fancy fold in the past that meant also having to create a custom envelope. No need to do that with these cards.

So I thought I would share some of my ideas, measurements & of course pics of the cards that I have customised. You will start to really recognise why this is called a value pack! To start the whole series off is the Joyfold Card.

Joyfold cards

Joyfold cards are basically two cards rolled into one. You can get some really great results using a variety of contrasting papers on the different panels of the card and you can also experiment with shape, size and fold placement for unique looks. But I am here to show you how to create one using one of the pre-scored cards from the White Cards & Envelopes Value Pack so unless you are going to cut down the size, the size is standard – but you could experiment where you cut the front panel & where you place the smaller card.

How To Steps

1. Take one of the White cards from the White Cards & Envelopes Value Pack & cut the front panel vertically in half – it is about 5.5cm or for those of you who love inches (sorry this Aussie Baby grew up with metric) 2 1/4 inch. The measurement doesn’t need to be exact but this size will give you a good panel to work with in creating the JoyFold Card.

Now I found the cut off piece too small for my liking to create the inner card – but for the purpose of showing how to create this card, I used it. I just folded it in half & well it makes the whole thing pretty economical. I personally like the cardstock a little taller and about the same width. It means cutting up another piece of cardstock but have a play. I like the inner cardtock to be around 7cm or 2 3/4inches tall by 14cm or 5 1/2inches wide.

Now the fun part the decorating part – you want to place the background paper of your choice on the inside of the card first before adding the inner card. Now you can do the whole card or just the part you see – the choice is yours.

4. Once you have your background paper adhered to the inside of the main card , it is now time to play the little joy inner card. You can mat this whole pice if you like or leave it plain. If you do mat the card – you will need to cut another smaller pice of white cardstock if you want the front panel of the smaller card to be white.

Cutting Measurements for White Cards & Envelopes Value Pack to create Joy Fold Card www.maz.closetomyheart.com.auOPTIONAL: Create a Belly Band to keep the card closed & it also creates a little fun extra embellishment to the card. To see an example of a card I created with a Belly Band check out the example over on my Facebook Page

Head over to my Facebook Page to take a closer look at this card fold I made earlier in the month.

I hope you enjoyed this little tutorial & that you have a go at creating a Joy Fold Card yourself.

Close To My Heart Chelsea Gardens Paper Suite: Australasian Blog Hop

Australasian Blog HopA Happy Hello and welcome aboard our Chelsea Gardens Paper Suite Australasian, Close to My Heart Blog Hop.

If you have arrived here from the amazingly creative Nell Ward then you are in the right place.

If you landed here by accident, no problem, please join in by following the link at the end of this blog post – where you will discover lots of ideas using the Chelsea Gardens Paper Suite

Chelsea Gardens #CTMH www.maz.closetomyheart.com.auThis gorgeous paper suite features soft blues & greens with Charcoal accents & while it has floral patterns within the paper suite – there are patterns in this suite that can easily lend itself to a baby boy card or layout or soft pretty floral cards.  I have had a lot of fun playing with Chelsea Gardens Paper Suite to hopefully spark some inspiration.

The first card I created is this monotone butterfly card, using the marble pattern paper as the background & the grey line pattern paper.

Chelsea Paper Suite Butterfly #CTMH www.maz.closetomyheart.com.au I stamped the leaves & butterfly in black & added some watercolour soft Charcoal colour over the images. I embossed the butterfly on vellum with silver embossing & cut it apart to add an extra layer over the stamped butterfly.

The next card I am sharing with you today is featuring the florals on one of the papers. I paired it with a soft textured grey paper and added silver foil & a scallop border.

Chelsea Paper Suite Thinking of You #CTMH www.maz.closetomyheart.com.au

Again the flowers were stamp in black & added some watercolour soft Charcoal colour over the images. I used one of the banners & butterflies from the Chelsea Gardens Complements.

I hope you enjoyed what I created today & if you did so, please leave a comment before you head over to the very talented: Shaunna Richards Passionate About Pages  who I am sure will showcase something absolutely wonderful.

Enjoy the hop & thanks so much for taking the time to check out these ideas with this month’s feature on the Close To My Heart Chelsea Gardens Paper Suite…Til next time, see you soon & keep creating!
